The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Zimbabwe in the first match of Twenty20 cricket match following their historic win in One Day International (ODI) series.
Zimbabwe set a target of 154 runs from 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first by losing 5 wickets.
The Afghan batsmen chased the given target after losing 4 wickets with an extraordinary performance by the middle order batsmen despite the opening batsmen did well in the first few overs.
With five balls remaining from the 20 overs, Mohammad Nabi remained not out after scoring 33 runs together with Najibullah Zadran who scored 37 runs, building a partnership of 69 runs from 8.1 overs.
On the opening side, Mohammad Shahzad scored 34 runs and Usman Ghani 13 runs, while Karim SAdiq scored 17 runs and Asghar Stanikzai 18 runs.
The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Zimbabwe by 73 runs during the fifth and final match of the One Day International (ODI) series on Saturday.
Afghanistan set a target of 246 runs by losing 9 wickets in 50 overs after Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field first.
Noor Ali Zadran scored 54 runs together with Mohammad Nabi’s 53 runs helped the Afghan team to set the target despite losing quick wickets in the middle order.
Asghar Stanikzai managed to score 38 runs, Mirwais Ashraf 21 runs, Mohammad Shahzad 26 runs and Dawlat Zadran remained not after scoring 13 runs.
Zimbabwe lost their opening batsmen during the initial minutes of the game and could not chase the given target despite a brilliant performance by Sean Williams who scored 102 runs.
Zimbabwe won the opening match of the series by 8 wickets but the series was leveled during the second match which was won by Afghanistan by 58 runs.
Afghanistan once again leveled the series by scoring a victory against Zimbabwe by 3 wickets which followed after a lose in the third game of the series.
